  6. SubTitler is a program which helps you add subtitles to a video,
  7. make slide shows and/or run SubTitler in real time 'on the air' so
  8. to speak, i.e. master tape running, your Amiga reading the Time Code
  9. in real time, while overlaying the subtitles and outputting directly
  10. to the air. In other words, Amiga, genlock and SubTitler software 
  11. can be used instead of the expensive subtitling machine.

  13. Key features follow:

  15. * External RS-232c SMPTE EBU Time Code support (25 FPS).
  16. * Basic subtitling effects like italic text, centering, lineup (titles
  17.   appear on upper are of frame).
  18. * Ability to have Mask underneath subtitles (filled or raster).
  19. * The ability to have IFF ILBM picture for background or create slide
  20.   shows (AGA supported).
  21. * Built in VTR commands for editing : Tape Pre-Roll, Fast Forward, Play,
  22.   Stop, Rewind and Pause.
  23. * Built in text editor.
  24. * The ability to import files directly from PC (MS-DOS ASCII character
  25.   remapping).
  26. * Supports most nonstandard ASCII characters (could add more if there
  27.   is demand).
  28. * Unlimited number of pages (limited only by available memory).
  29. * Pre-antialiased fonts included for Super Hires (one font, one size,
  30.   8 colors) and Normal Hires (two fonts, one size, 4 and 8 colors).
  31.   Additional fonts under development.

  33. Limitations to this demo release:
  34.  
  35. * Max 20 pages can be edited/loaded.
  36. * Saving is disabled.
  37. * During Displayer mode only simulated timecode is used.

  39. SubTitler has been tested on PAL Amiga 1200, Amiga 1200+030/50MHz and
  40. Amiga 4000/040 but it should work with any PAL Amiga equipped with
  41. AmigaDOS 2.1 or greater and at least 2M free memory. HDD is not required
  42. but recommended as saving and loading from/to disks is very slow. VTRs
  43. tested with SubTitler are Sony UVW 1200 Betacam Player, UVW1400 Recorder
  44. and Panasonic AG-5700 S-VHS Recorder. If you're using different brand 
  45. VTR then I can't guarantee that SubTitler will work properly. Included
  46. protocols are designed for Sony and Panasonic VTRs, but if you provide
  47. me with exact RS-232c protocol your VTR is using then I could try to 
  48. add support for it to SubTitler.
